Exam-day habits,without fake official papers.
Practice Dojos, the Exam Prep toolkit, a printable Years 3–6 paper booklet, and 120+ original NAPLAN-style prompts help families build stamina and craft. Feedback is practice coaching — never an official NAPLAN band or ACARA past paper.
For parents, teachers, and students
One toolkit. Three clear jobs.
Students need short craft wins and honest timed practice. Parents need calm paper and screen options. Teachers need assignable mocks that still leave them grade of record. Everything below stays formative and claim-safe.
For students
What you will actually do
Open English Writing in StudyRoom. Use the left nav for Games, Practice dojos, Practice tests, and Exam prep — then write for real.
- Choose a dojo, play a short bout with your guide, ask Sprig if you are stuck, then use that move in your own writing.
- Start a surprise mock, follow the time plan, then fix one skill. The coach stays quiet while the clock runs.
- Choose a year and cover scene, write on the lined pages with a pencil, then use the five-minute edit checklist.
- Watch the phase chips (or hard lock banners) so you save time to edit.
- After feedback, pick one skill to improve in your own words — Sprig asks questions and will not write your draft.
For parents
How to support at home
Stay nearby for calm encouragement. Do not coach mid-sit. Celebrate one revise focus after feedback. Scores here are practice coaching, not school report grades.
- One place to start a NAPLAN-style mock that feels like the real day (you find out narrative or persuasive when you begin). Feedback stays practice coaching.
- Customise a StudyRoom cover, pick Year 3–6 and how many practice tests to include, then download a calm home handwriting pack with an edit checklist. Formative only — never an official NAPLAN paper.
- Between full timed sits, kids open a dojo for a few minutes, win one craft move, then take it into a real draft. Wins are formative craft practice — not marks.
- Plenty of fresh practice topics so kids are not stuck on the same two prompts. We link to ACARA’s free demo for real online tools; we do not upload official papers.
- Practice feedback only — not an official NAPLAN or Selective score. StudyRoom never guarantees test results or school placement.
For teachers
Classroom and homework use
Teacher Writing Studio still owns assign → review → release. The toolkit adds stamina drills and surprise-genre mocks without replacing your judgement.
- In Assignments → Writing, pick a NAPLAN-style timed mode, tick surprise genre, and optionally set phase lock. You still release feedback as grade of record.
- Assign soft or hard phase lock on a NAPLAN-style mock when a student needs pacing habits.
- Send home a branded booklet for handwriting stamina. Year 3 packs match the paper sitting; Y4–6 packs are handwriting practice before online or Selective-style sits. Covers are gallery art only; prompts are original — never ACARA past papers.
- Use dojos as warm-ups or homework micro-drills that map back to lessons and criteria. Sprig stays Socratic; students still own every sentence.
- You release AI draft feedback when ready — formative disclaimer stays on every timed sit.
What’s inside
Tools that match real conditions — carefully
We simulate timing, surprise genre, and Year 3 paper honesty. We never host official ACARA writing prompts in the app (copyright). Online years should also try ACARA’s free public demo for real editing tools.
- Practice Dojos: Six short themed craft games — Revision Race, Sentence Dojo, Audience Swap, Paragraph Forge, Convention Crypt, and NAPLAN Season Quest — with a guide and Sprig the AI coach asking questions, never writing the draft.
- Exam Prep toolkit: Surprise-genre timed mocks, a simple plan→write→edit pace, speed habits, links to the official free NAPLAN demo, and hard phase-timer practice mode.
- Paper practice booklet (Years 3–6): Printable multi-test PDF with StudyRoom cover scenes (no photo uploads), branded headers/footers, and original prompts. Year 3 matches the real paper NAPLAN Writing medium; Years 4–6 build handwriting stamina (Year 5 Writing is online).
- 120+ original exam prompts: A growing bank of original NAPLAN-style narrative and persuasive prompts for formative timed sits — never official ACARA past papers hosted in the app.
- Phase timer (soft or hard): Advisory plan→write→edit chips, or hard phase banners for extra practice. Real NAPLAN lets students self-pace; hard mode is optional training only.
Honesty
What we will not claim
This toolkit prepares habits and craft. It does not sell official bands, placement odds, or “we have the real past papers inside the app”.
- No official NAPLAN score, band, or guarantee
- No Selective / scholarship placement prediction
- Cover title is “Year 3 Writing Practice Booklet” — NAPLAN only as NAPLAN-style conditions with formative footnotes
- Teacher remains grade of record for assigned work
