StudyRoom is operated by PIAZR Pty Ltd (ABN 69 660 867 390), 21A Eungai Pl, North Narrabeen NSW 2101. "StudyRoom Academy" is a registered business name of PIAZR Pty Ltd; "StudyRoom" is the product name used throughout this site and application.

Quick summary: StudyRoom is an invite-only AI tutoring platform. By using it you agree to use it honestly, parents/guardians are responsible for their under-15 children's use, AI-generated feedback isn't a substitute for a qualified teacher, and either side can end the arrangement.

1. Accounts and approval

  • StudyRoom accounts are currently created by registering with an email/password or by signing in with Google, then require admin approval before they can be used — you'll see a "pending approval" message until that happens.
  • You must provide accurate information at registration, including your real date of birth.
  • Accounts have one of four roles — student, parent, teacher, or admin — each with different access to the platform.
  • You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • misuse the AI tutor to do assessed schoolwork dishonestly on your behalf where that would breach your school's own academic-integrity policy;
  • attempt to bypass safety features, content moderation, or the platform's usage/spend limits;
  • share your account with someone else, or access another student's account or data without authorisation;
  • upload content that isn't yours to share, or that is abusive, illegal, or intended to harm yourself or others;
  • attempt to extract, manipulate, or "jailbreak" the underlying AI systems beyond their intended tutoring purpose.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, including where our automated safeguarding checks flag a serious concern (see the Privacy Policy §4–5 for how that automated process works).

3. Parent/guardian responsibilities

If you're a parent or guardian of a student using StudyRoom:

  • You're responsible for reviewing and agreeing to consent requests for your child (photo uploads, voice practice) where the platform asks for them, and for understanding what those features do — see the Privacy Policy §6.
  • You're responsible for supervising your child's use of the platform, consistent with your own household rules and your school's policies.
  • You can request a link to your child's account through the guardianship-request process, which the platform verifies before granting access to their progress.
  • You'll periodically see automated progress updates and, occasionally, an automated escalation about your child's engagement or performance (Privacy Policy §4) — these are AI-generated from platform data, not a professional assessment, and you can always follow up with your child's teacher.
  • Parents and teachers (never students) may opt in to receive supported notifications over WhatsApp once the production WhatsApp sender is approved and enabled, delivered directly via WhatsApp (Meta Platforms). This is optional, requires phone verification and a WhatsApp cross-border consent, and you can turn it off at any time by replying STOP. (WhatsApp delivery is not yet live to real users as of this version.) How it works and what data it involves is governed by the Privacy Policy (§7, §9).

4. What the AI is, and isn't

  • StudyRoom's tutor, feedback, and coaching are generated by AI language models, not by a certified human teacher, and can be wrong, incomplete, or miss context a human tutor would catch.
  • AI-generated feedback, marking, and progress assessments are not professional educational, psychological, or medical advice, and should not be treated as a substitute for a qualified teacher's, counsellor's, or doctor's judgement.
  • A teacher using StudyRoom with your class may configure "directives" that steer how the AI tutor responds to your class or to you specifically (e.g. tone, difficulty, topics to emphasise) — these come from your teacher, not from us directly.
  • The automated nudge/escalation system described in the Privacy Policy is a pattern-detection tool over the platform's own recorded data — it does not have information about your life outside StudyRoom, and its conclusions can be wrong. It is designed to prompt a human (teacher/parent) to check in, not to replace that human judgement.

5. Payment

StudyRoom is currently invite-only and free to use. We do not collect payment today. If paid plans are introduced in future, we will update this section with pricing, billing terms, and cancellation/refund policy before any payment is collected, and you will be asked to accept the updated terms.

6. Content and intellectual property

  • Curriculum content, lesson material, and platform software are owned by StudyRoom or licensed to us; you may use them for your own personal study/teaching purposes only, not for redistribution.
  • Work you submit (writing, practice answers, exam responses) remains yours; you grant us the licence needed to process it (including sending it to the AI providers described in the Privacy Policy) in order to provide the tutoring service to you.

7. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law: StudyRoom is provided "as is," and while we take reasonable care to keep it safe and accurate, we do not guarantee the AI tutor's output is error-free, and we are not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of AI-generated feedback or automated progress assessments. Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using StudyRoom at any time. There is currently no self-service full account deletion — contact an admin to close your account (see the Privacy Policy §10 for what data deletion is available today).
  • We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these terms, including the acceptable-use rules in §2, or where continued access poses a safety risk to the student or others.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

10. Changes to these terms

We'll update the version number and date at the top of this document whenever we make a material change. If you're already registered, you'll be asked to re-accept the current version the next time you sign in after it changes.
